About this training programme

Theoretical and practical training on the Simeox device.

Training objectives

The objective of this training is to fully understand the operating principle of the Simeox device and its clinical applications. A large part is dedicated to the practice to facilitate the proper implementation of Simeox therapy.

Methodology and pedagogy

This training is divided into 4 modules: 1. Physiology and pathophysiology reminders concerning obstructive respiratory pathologies and the role of respiratory physiotherapy in their management, 2. The theory of the Simeox device, 3. The handling of the device, and finally 4. The clinical practice. This teaching progamme includes numerous illustrations including 3D and 2D visualizations for a better understanding of the pathophysiology of chronic respiratory pathologies, and the functioning of the Simeox device. Clinical practice will be illustrated with patients (a healthy patient, a cystic fibrosis patient and a COPD patient).

Prerequisites

This training is open to healthcare professionals (physiotherapists, physicians, nurses).

Introduction

It is important to follow all 4 modules of this training programme in the proposed order, to have a good understanding of the Simeox device and thus to be able to use it optimally.

Reminders of Physiology, Physiopathology and notions of Respiratory Physiotherapy

This theoretical part begins with reminders on the normal respiratory pump and the pathological respiratory pump, after which a reminder on rheology and mucus behavior is given. Finally, some notions on respiratory physiotherapy are reviewed.

Simeox device: the theory

The theory about the Simeox device consists of 6 sub-parts.

  • An introduction about Simeox
  • Indications and contraindications to the use of the Simeox device
  • For which diseases Simeox is intended
  • The principle of use with a video on a test bench showing the Simeox effect.
  • The benefits expected from the use of the Simeox device
  • Clinical data available to date

Handling the Simeox device

This part is about the instructions for handling the Simeox device. We go through all the steps allowing the optimal use of the Simeox: connection, installation, assembly of the exhalation kit, settings and visual indicator, management of the remote control, progress of the session, end of session, cleaning of the Simeox device and the expiratory circuit.

SIMEOX DEVICE: Clinical practice

This section will give you all the information and advice you need to properly use Simeox in practice so that your patients can fully benefit from it. Particular attention is paid to the first session for each new patient, for which you will have to spend more time than usual. This time provided at the first session will ensure patient adherence and ensure the good results you will achieve later with Simeox. This part is mainly illustrated with patients (cystic fibrosis patient and COPD patient) in real conditions.
